Parking at airports is getting cheaper and cheaper in most places. And that is good news, because it means you will have more money left over for your next travel destination. At Dutch airports next summer, holidaymakers will pay an average of about 66 euros for eight days' parking. That was about 71 euros last year. That's a drop of 7 per cent! Want to know more about this? Then read on and check out your options.
Airport near Eelde is cheapest
Although Eelde has seen prices rise this year, this airport is still the cheapest when it comes to parking costs. You pay around €40 euros for eight days of parking during the summer holidays. At Rotterdam The Hague Airport, you pay the most: about €97 euros for a week. At Schiphol, you then pay an average of €66 euros, and at Maastricht about €51 euros.
All these figures come from a survey by Parkos. The online comparison platform compiled these figures to give travellers an insight into this year's parking costs. The platform stresses that it is always wise to compare different parking options.
Eindhoven drops price significantly
What you for parking at Eindhoven Airport paid around 88 euros last year, you will pay around 75 euros for a spot at the airport this year. A substantial drop. This puts the airport pretty much around the average price. Good news for anyone wanting to fly from this airport, which is already popular due to lower airfare prices.
That prices are now falling makes sense, as there is increasing competition in the parking market. New providers are coming in with competitive prices, and official airport parking has to go along with that. Germany is also seeing increasing competition. This in turn has to do with the fact that more and more Dutch people are booking flights from German airports. Tickets are often cheaper there, and it is less crowded than at Schiphol Airport, for example.
Prices up again after all?
The Schiphol Parking can still become more expensive again. This has to do with supply and demand. Towards summer, availability decreases. The cheapest parking providers are then fully booked. That leaves the spaces in the official car parks, for which you simply pay more.
If you want to avoid paying hefty fees for airport parking, it is advisable to book in time and compare different parking providers. Then you will keep the money in your pocket for your holiday.
