A popular destination in Europe, Barcelona is one of the Spanish country's best culinary cities and thus the ideal place for foodies. Immerse yourself in tapas, sangria, paella and wander the small streets. Having lived in Barcelona for 5 months and discovered all the cool spots, I am happy to share with you my favourite clubs, bars and restaurants in Barcelona! When you go to Barcelona is going to have to eat well. Where? Well here. Vamos!

The best restaurants in Barcelona

That you can eat deliciously in Barcelona is no secret. All over the city you can find cosy tapas bars, fine beach bars, fun breakfast bars and atmospheric restaurants. In the five months I lived in Barcelona, I listed the best restaurants, clubs and rooftop bars. So, are you planning a city break to Barcelona soon? Then be sure to keep this list of my favourite hotspots handy!

The best restaurants in Barcelona for breakfast & lunch

  • Brunch & Cake: A tourist spot, but you can eat delicious food there! Choose from a French Toast, Breakfast Burrito or Açai Bowl.
  • Tropico: Here you will find delicious dishes to start your day right, such as pancakes, avocado toast and the popular Açai Bowl. It is often crowded so if you want to be sure of a place, it is best to make a reservation. tasty dishes to start the day with
  • Surf House: Looking for the best nachos in Barcelona? Then Surf house is the place to be! You will also find delicious burgers, smoothies and wraps.
  • Alsur Cafe: At Alsur, you get delicious dishes with so many calories that you will be full after 5 bites. Perfect if you're on the go all day.
  • Caelum: Stop here if you want to enjoy a nice coffee and a good piece of cake.
  • La Cala: Another stop for a delicious cup of coffee and a cronut (croissant-donut).
  • LULU & FLYN: A cosy bistro where you can choose from many dishes such as smoothie bowls, avocado toast, ensaladas and loaded scamble eggs.
  • OMA Bistro: A small bistro and the perfect stop for a good lunch. You can have a good, hearty lunch there with, for example, a breakfast bagel, shakshuka or an eggs Benedict sandwich. So a good lunch as we Dutch are used to.
  • El Arbol Brunch: A nice place to grab a bite to eat and do some work on your laptop in the meantime!

The best restaurants in Barcelona for dinner

  • Sensi: This is a chain of 3 restaurants, where you can eat delicious food. Enjoy a Tuna Tartar at Sensi Tapas, a Truffle Ravioli at Sensie Bistro or a Beef Tenderloin at Sensi Gourmet!
  • Vinitus: A nicely decorated restaurant where you can eat traditional tapas for little money! Mega delicious and ideal for a fun evening with each other or friends.
  • La Luna: This restaurant is a bit hidden away but don't let that stop you. After all, you can eat tasty tapas here!
  • Flax & Kale: Looking for a fine vegetarian restaurant? Then Flax & Kale is the place to be! They have tasty burgers, Nachos and Poke bowls here
  • Casa Lolea: Absolute favourite of Thousandtravelmiles! This small restaurant with a nice atmosphere is the ideal place to end your day. You do need to make a reservation in advance but don't let that stop you. After all, they serve delicious tapas here (what else)!
  • Elsa y Fred: This restaurant has a real living room atmosphere and serves delicious food.
  • Los Caracoles: Here you will find the best the best chicken in Barcelona.
  • Pinchos Street (carrer de blai): A street in the Poble Sec district, where you can only find Pinchos bars. These bars sell small snacks with chopsticks in them. At the end of your dinner, you pay according to how many sticks you have.
  • Bar Lobo: A cosy restaurant for a nice drink and a bite to eat. Try a the Tataki de Atum here!
  • Llamber: Looking for a chic tapas restaurants for a fancy occasion or just because you can? Then Llamber is the place to be.
  • El nacional: This place has a fantastic atmosphere and it is wonderful just to walk around. You can compare it to a foodhall where you will find different restaurants.
  • 7 Portes: Eating traditional paella during your visit? Then a visit to 7 Portes cannot be missing from your list.
  • Bormuth: A cosy tapas bar serving traditional dishes in the middle of El Born district.
  • Gatsby: A restaurant where you imagine yourself in the time of the great gatsby. Keep in mind then the dress code is compulsory and you also pay for the whole look and feel.

The finest places to have delicious drinks!

  • Paradiso: This looks like a very small bar, but when you open the bookcase, there is something very magical behind it!
  • Dux Gin & Cocktail: This cocktail bar has the craziest cocktails, like a bathtub and more...
  • Dr Stravinsky: Cosy bar to enjoy a drink. The drinks and cocktails here are mega delicious.
  • La Xampanyeria: This bar is hidden in a small street and you can drink delicious cavas here. The menu is simple and therefore perfect!
  • Crepes al Born: A nice place to have drinks in the evening and meet new people.

The most beautiful rooftop bars in Barcelona

  • Terraza Colón: The Hotel Colón has a beautiful rooftop bar overlooking Barcelona's cathedral.
  • 1881 per Sagardi: Here you will find a large rooftop terrace with a view over the harbour and great lounge music.
  • Sky Bar Hotel Iberostar: Here you will find the best parties every week!
  • Ohla Terraza: You'll find this rooftop bar in the middle of the city, allowing you to enjoy stunning views of Barcelona.
  • Hotel Pulitzer: The place to go for great live music with a drink. You will also find many locals here and the atmosphere is always top notch!
  • Hotel Duquesa de Cardona: This rooftop bar has great views over Barcelona's marina.

The best places to go out!

  • La fira: A fun club with great music late into the night
  • Jamboree: Club near Placa Real where you can shake your buttocks deliciously
  • Razmatazz: This is Barcelona's biggest club. You have a choice of different rooms here, each with its own music. Entrance is €20 including 1 mixed drink.
  • The George Payne: Absolutely the most fun and sociable Irisch bar in Barcelona. Thursday night is karaoke night and you really need to attend.
