Transport to and in Germany

Most people will take the car but there are several options! Choose your favourite and start planning your trip.

Car: For a short trip, our preference is often the train or car. By car, you have all the freedom and flexibility to visit all the sights. Do you opt for the countryside? Then the car is totally a fine option.

Tip: If you go by car, fill up in Germany and don't forget your environmental sticker. You need this environmental sticker to drive in the city. Applying is easy and you will receive it within 3 days. Order the environment sticker here at a discount!

Train: Through the NS website, you can easily book a ticket to one of the many stations. This is the ideal option if you choose to travel to one of the big cities. Germany has an excellent train network connecting major cities such as Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich and Hamburg.

Bus: Another and very affordable option is the bus. Companies like Flixbus and Eurolines offer many long-distance buses. These buses are a cheap and comfortable way to travel. They connect major cities, airports and even smaller towns and villages. Tickets are easy to book online, often at very affordable prices.

Plane: With airports scattered all over the country, this is a good option. Choose large international airports like Berlin, Frankfurt or Munich, or go for regional airports like Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart. This allows you to reach almost any destination quickly and comfortably. There are many direct flights from the Netherlands to these airports, making it a convenient and efficient option.

Transport in Germany

Public transport: In cities, public transport is well organised with buses, trams and metros. Using public transport is easy and affordable, with tickets easily purchased from vending machines or via apps.

Lime scooters: We recommend renting a lime scooter for a day. A day ticket is 10,- and booking a ride is easy to arrange through the app. You can rent the Lime scooters via the app on your phone. However, you do need a credit card for this as it will be linked to your Lime account. After downloading the app and activating your account; you will be taken step-by-step through the instructions. Note: make sure your battery is well charged when using the scooters, so you can check out and log out after use.
