What vaccinations do I need for Thailand?
Dutch and Belgian travellers are advised to get the vaccinations listed below. This distinguishes between compulsory and recommended vaccinations.
We would like to mention that the vaccinations below depend on the nature and duration of your trip and your health situation. Specific information about your situation and possible malaria measures can best be discussed with the GGD near you.
Mandatory
1. Yellow fever: For Dutch and Belgian travellers, a yellow fever vaccination is mandatory if you have been in a yellow fever country in the seven days before entering Thailand. This advice applies even if you only made a transfer at the airport of a yellow fever country.
Furthermore, there are no compulsory vaccinations for travellers from the Netherlands or Belgium.
Recommended
Regardless of your length of stay, the following vaccinations are recommended for Thailand:
1. DTP (diphtheria, tetanus and polio)
2. Hepatitis A (infectious jaundice)
In addition, a BMR vaccination recommended if you have not had measles or measles vaccinations.
Will you stay more than 3 months in Thailand then the following vaccinations are also recommended:
3. Hepatitis B
4. Rabies (rabies)
5. Tuberculosis (In some cases)

Where is the best place to get my vaccinations for Thailand?
We have obtained our punctures from two organisations in recent years. We recommend these two organisations because we know they are reliable. In addition, these organisations work together with many health insurers, so your vaccination may just be reimbursed.
GGD Netherlands: You easily, quickly and free of charge arrange a appointment at a GGD in your area. Please note that they do not administer Covid vaccinations during this appointment.
Home vaccinations.co.uk: You also arrange easily and quickly here make an appointment online. The nice thing about this organisation is that they come to you. So you don't have to go anywhere! Most health insurers are also affiliated to this organisation.

What do vaccinations for Thailand cost?
Unfortunately you will not receive reimbursement for traveller vaccinations from basic insurance. There are health insurers who do offer this coverage with supplementary health insurance. If your health insurer covers all or part of the vaccinations, it will not be at the expense of your deductible.
Tip: On the homepage of Thuisvaccinaties.nl, you can enter your insurer. They will give you a clear overview indicating which of your health insurer's supplementary packages cover travel vaccinations. However, we always advise you to check with your health insurer.

How does payment at the GGD or Thuisvaccinaties.nl work?
How do you pay for travel vaccinations at the GGD?
You can usually only pay by debit card at the GGD. You will receive the bill immediately after the vaccinations and you can then claim it from your health insurer.
How do you pay for travel vaccinations at Thuisvaccinaties.nl?
In most cases, Thuisvaccinaties.nl sends the invoice directly to your health insurer. You will then only receive an invoice if it is not covered by your insurance.
If they do not have this arrangement with the health insurer, you will receive the invoice in your mail and you can claim the invoice yourself. You must pay the invoice within 14 days by either Ideal or bank transfer.
The yellow vaccination booklet
You can ask the GGD and Thuisvaccinaties.nl if they also put the details in your yellow booklet. We always take this with us when we travel. Should we end up in hospital, the doctors can see at a glance what you have been vaccinated for. Don't have the yellow booklet yet? No problem you can easily order it online.

Summary of vaccinations Thailand
Dutch and Belgian travellers are advised to get the vaccinations DTP & Hepatitis A when staying less than 3 months. If you stay longer, Hepatitis B & Rabies are recommended. You may need more vaccinations. This depends on the nature and duration of your trip and your health situation.
