During our travels, we found out that suitcase labels made of plastic or silicone do not last long. They tear or become ‘sticky’ and we thought: this has to change! Our pu leather suitcase labels are sturdy, strong and do not tear easily. Plus, you can quickly recognise your luggage at a busy airport because of the striking colours! First, it is important to stress that PU leather is not fake leather. However, it is not real leather either. Real leather is in fact a natural product, derived from animal skin. This leather is processed but always keeps its natural properties. With PU leather, an extra layer is added.
So how does this work? PU stands for PolyUrethane. This is a type of leather with a coating applied to a thin layer of leather. This creates a material consisting of a leather layer with a PU top layer. This makes PU leather a little less flexible than real leather and a little duller in appearance.
