Camogli in Italy is an old pastel-coloured fishing village located on the western side of the Portofino peninsula. This, still fairly unknown city, on the Italian Riviera is one of Italy's best-kept secrets. Wander the narrow alleys, enjoy a good pasta or have coffee at one of the many restaurants. Check out our tips for planning the perfect trip to Camogli.

Transport to Camogli

If you choose to visit this beautiful place, you have several options in terms of transport. Opt for the car, motorhome or go by train. With a car or motorhome, though, keep in mind that parking spaces are limited. There is free and paid parking at Piazza Matteotti and Via San Rocco. Another option is the car park near the Gulliver shopping centre (towards Genoa), which offers a regular shuttle service to the city.

Tip: Want to hire a car for just a few days? Then check out Sunnycars.

Camogli is also easy to reach by train. Indeed, it lies on the main railway line between Genoa and La Spezia. From Genoa, it is just over half an hour by train.

Tip: For up-to-date train times, check Trenitalia.

Transport in Camogli

Here we can be very brief. Getting around Camogli is best done on foot. Keep in mind that there are numerous steep steps to get towards the beach.

What to do during your trip to Camogli

Camogli is colourful, not crowded and has some popular tourist spots. We visited here on our 3rd & 4th day during our two-week road trip through Europe.

Hike: In and around Camogli are and many hiking trails ranging from easy and short (30 minutes) to difficult and long (4 hours). During these walks, you will be taken through olive groves, forests and have the most beautiful views of the ocean.

Visit the beach: There is not much to add here. Who doesn't want to be able to lie on the beach and do nothing while on holiday.

Tip: Would you rather do an activity? Then check out one of the water activities they offer in Camogli. Find more details and information at the hotel where you are staying.

Explore the village: Camogli is a small village and therefore the ideal place to wonderfully wander around. Enjoy the colourful buildings, the ocean views and the many restaurants. We ate the best focaccia ever here.
