Tours of Santorini
Santorini is an ideal island for a holiday or as a starting point for a tour of Greece. You drive from north to south in about 45 minutes, allowing you to explore the island in just a few days. We mostly used the bus or rented a scooter, but you can also opt for a quad bike or car. Just keep in mind that in high season, it is wise to book your vehicle in advance, be it a car, scooter or ATV.
Tip: There are plenty of rental companies and you have plenty of choice! However, we almost always book a car ourselves through Sunnycars.co.uk. This is by far the most reliable option and they have clear terms and conditions.

Our guide to the best photo spots on Santorini
For all these Instagram photospots, we recommend visiting in the morning (6:30 - 9:00). Not a morning person? Then make sure you get there before 18:00 before all the people line up for the beautiful sunset.
1. Oia viewpoint
On the western side of Oia, you will find a well-known photo spot. From this point, you have a view of colourful buildings and the famous windmills. The steps towards Amoudi Bay, are a popular spot where people gather in the evening to watch the sunset.

2. Anastasis church, Oia
The blue domes of Anastasis Church are probably the most recognisable domes in Greece. Countless Instagram photos are taken at this famous photo spot every year. Check out the map at the end of this blog and zoom in until you find our marker for Anastasis Church for its exact location. Keep in mind that there is a queue here early in the morning. Fortunately, this queue is a lot shorter than that in the afternoon or at sunset.

3. Three domes, Oia
This photo spot is close to the Anastasis church. Not surprisingly, this spot is as popular as this one above.

4. Kastro Oia Houses, Oia
No doubt you have seen this photo spot pass by on Instagram. Located right on the cliff, this orange-tinted hotel is one of the most popular photospots on the island.

5. Agios Nikolaos Church, Oia
This spot is not hard to find although we walked past it at least 4 times. Let's just say this photo spot is a bit unexpected. During the day, musicians often sit here and you cannot easily sit on the wall. Keep this in mind if you want to take a photo at this spot. You can find the exact location on the map below.

6. Windmills, Oia
There are two windmills on the western side of Oia. In the evening, it is very busy here but it is definitely worth watching the sunset from here. In the morning and during the day it is a lot quieter here, perfect for a nice photo!

7. Skaros Rock & church, Imerovigli
This place cannot be missing from this list. It is a unique spot on Santorini which is visited by many tourists every day. You can choose to walk all the way to the top or take photos at the beginning of the path.

8. Anastasi church, Imerovigli
We decided to spend the third day wandering around Santorini and by chance came across this popular photo spot. Despite the fact that you often come across this photo spot on Instagram, it was incredibly quiet. Probably because it is off the ‘normal’ hiking route. You will find this spot at the highest part of the village of Imerovigli. There is a large flowering tree and a beautiful white church with the distinctive blue dome. We were here in the afternoon and had the spot almost to ourselves! So there is no need to get up super early to get a nice photo at this spot. Imerovigli is generally a lot quieter than Oia!

9. Bell tower, Megalochori
The village of Megalochori is definitely a must-see when you go to Santorini. You'll find beautiful architecture here and, of course, the iconic churches with blue domes. The Bell tower is a popular photo spot on Santorini, yet it is relatively quiet here! If you walk a little further you'll also get to Megalochori church viewpoint.

10. Church, Mesari
Far away from the popular Oia lies the village of Mesari. Let's just say this is definitely a Hidden gem on Santorini. There are lots of unique photospots here and you can easily spend a whole morning wandering around. The biggest advantage is that you're not going to find many tourists here. We had all the spots to ourselves here, ideal if you want to try some different poses.
