1. Travelling from Bangkok to Koh Chang by bus + ferry
One of the most accessible and affordable ways to travel from Bangkok to Koh Chang is by bus combined with the ferry. Several buses depart daily from Bangkok, including from Ekkamai Bus Terminal and Mochit Bus Terminal to Thammachat Pier (Trat). From here, catch the ferry to Koh Chang island.
- Starting point: Ekkamai or Mochit Bus Terminal (Bangkok)
- Arrival: Thammachat Pier (Trat) from there get on the ferry to Koh Chang
- Travel time: About 5-6 hours (bus) + 30-45 minutes (ferry)
- Price: From THB 600 (€16) per person, depending on provider
- Tickets: Conveniently book online in advance through platforms such as 12GoAsia, GetYourGuide, Klook or at your accommodation in Bangkok
Tip: We love booking last-minute and in Thailand, you certainly can! However, do you travel in high season, around holidays or have a very tight schedule? Then book your tickets in advance. Our favourite for this is 12GoAsia but there are also other parties such as GetYourGuide and Klook. That way, you can be sure you have a spot and on the day itself you will only have to enjoy the views along the way.
2. Travel from Bangkok to Koh Chang by minivan + ferry
Would you prefer a bit more convenience and comfort on the road? Then the direct minivan is a good choice. These minibuses often depart from central locations in Bangkok, such as Khao San Road or Suvarnabhumi Airport, and drive directly to the pier in Trat. The ferry to Koh Chang is usually included in the ticket, leaving you with nothing to worry about.

- Arrival: Thammachat Pier (Trat) from there get on the ferry to Koh Chang
- Travel time: About 5 to 6 hours + 30-45 minutes (ferry)
- Price: Between 1,000 and 1,500 THB (€25-€40) per person
- Tickets: Easy to book via 12GoAsia, GetYourGuide, Klook or at your accommodation in Bangkok.
Tip: When booking, pay close attention to the timing between your shuttle and the ferry. Some providers provide a perfect connection, so you won't have to wait unnecessarily long at the pier.
3. Travel from Bangkok to Koh Chang by private transfer
Are you travelling with a lot of luggage, are you with a large family or just like travelling in comfort without any hassle? Then a private transfer might be the best option for you. You will be picked up at your hotel or a location of your choice in Bangkok, and driven to the pier in one go, where the ferry will take you to Koh Chang. Many providers also arrange the boat ticket for you directly along with it.

- Travel time: About 5 to 6 hours + 30-45 minutes (ferry)
- Price: From THB 4,000 (€100) per car, depending on the provider

Tip: Check carefully whether the ferry is already included in the fare and whether you can choose between a single transfer or a full service all the way to the island itself.
