The Thailand Pass Registration, how exactly does it work? Since Thailand ‘opened’ again to tourists, a number of new rules have been put in place. Nothing complicated & certainly no reason not to go! However, it is useful to know exactly what it entails. Read our step by step explanation here and apply for your Thailand Pass!

Update 22 June 2022! From 1 July, travellers will have to no longer register for the Thailand Pass. The required QR code & $10,000 health insurance are no longer required. As a result, travellers entering Thailand within 72 hours will only need to provide a vaccination certificate or a negative PCR test display. This can be printed or digital. For all travellers who do not have a negative Covid test, they can undergo a test on arrival.

The Thailand Pass

Whereas previously you only needed your plane ticket, last year you had to reckon with some important measures. From 1 November 2021, it was mandatory to apply for the Thailand Pass. This is a registration system through which the Thai government supports the country's ‘Ease of Travel’ system and can check whether you adhere to the latest health measures. You can compare it to the CoronaCheck app in the Netherlands. From 1 July 2022, the Thailand pass application will no longer be required. Read the full update below.

Update 22 June 2022: Access measures for foreigners (from 1 July 2022)
- Thailand Pass no longer required
- Certificate of vaccination or an RT-PCR / Professional ATK COVID-19 test result issued within 72 hours before departure
- Medical insurance not required
- Airlines will check your documents

There you are with all the papers and proof you need, your passport and your good behaviour. We Dutch are often well prepared but you probably recognise the nervous feeling when they ask; what are you doing here? There you are, suddenly very unsure about telling them you are going on holiday for a few weeks. Nowhere necessary, of course, but still, it is often exciting.

Meanwhile, we have travelled a lot and can say that we have experienced a few things. Once, for instance, we stood at a ticket counter with an empty phone, which had all our files on it, rather insecure...We have learned from this and that is why we have listed our 3 favourite life savers for you.

Anker PowerCore Powerbank. This powerbank has managed to prevent a lot of stress moments. You can easily carry it in your hand luggage, making it ideal when your phone, with all your documents, is about to fail!

In addition, always put all your documents in Google drive so you can access them from multiple devices.

The North Face Borealis Backpack Unisex. This backpack is really ideal while travelling. It has several compartments where you can easily organise all your documents. We often put all our documents in the front compartment so we only have to unzip the bag. For the organised among us, you can easily put a document folder in here too! Always check the offers on Bever.co.uk

Also available at Bever.co.uk. Here, the bag is often on sale.

A passport case. Whatever happens and wherever you go, your passport is the most important document you take with you. So it is handy that you protect it during your travels. After all, nothing is more annoying than requesting an emergency passport on your holiday. As soon as we arrive in a country, we often put our passports in a case so that they are protected in our bag. This may sound exaggerated, but just wait until a tropical rainstorm drenches your belongings because your bag turns out not to be completely waterproof. Your welcome!

Final stage in the application process

After sending the application, you will receive a confirmation e-mail in your inbox containing a personal key code. With this code, you can check the status of the application and adjust it if necessary. Please note that if you choose ‘change information’, your application will be resubmitted. This causes the assessment process to start all over again.

Approval takes about 3 to 7 working days but usually you will have an approval after 2 days. Still haven't received an e-mail after 8 days? Then check the application status online first. Does it say the application is still being processed? Then contact us via the e-mail address on the website: https://tp.consular.go.th/home.

Tip LightTip for unvaccinated: You can apply for the Thailand Pass 3 days in advance. *From 29 April 2022, Thailand Pass consideration will take no more than 48 hours (2 days)*

After approval, you will receive a QR code via e-mail. Print this out so you can show it at any time.

You cannot enter Thailand without the Thailand Pass! At the check-in desk, the gate and at the airport, you have to show several times that you have it.
